One is alpha-linolenic acid (omega 3); the other is linoleic acid (omega 6). Both are easily destroyed by light, oxygen, and high temperature, becoming toxic. EFAs are major nutrients. Energy production
EFAs increase oxidation, energy levels and stamina, most obvious to athletes, elderly people, the overweight and the middle-aged. They improve athletic performance both in strength and endurance sports. They speed recovery from fatigue. An EFA rich whole food formula improves performance and recovery in dogs, horses, and birds.

People who use fresh, EFA-rich oils notice their energy levels pick up, increase physical activity, get tired less quickly, recover faster, feel more like being active and stay alert later into the evening This energy is not a buzz like you get from coffee, but a stable, sustained, extended energy.

Weight loss
EFAs increase metabolic rate; more calories burn off, these fats keep you slim! EFAs help kidneys dump excess water in tissues, which constitutes extra weight in some people. They help decrease cravings which result from not getting the nutrients we need. EFAs elevate mood and lift depressions, a reason why some people overeat. Better mood and energy levels make us feel like being active. Instead of fat calories, EFAs are turned into prostaglandin hormones.

Brain development and brain function
Half of the weight of our brain, the organ richest in fat, is EFAs. Agree with the teacher who calls students fat-heads. The ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 in the brain is 1:1. Children with learning problems benefit from freshly prepared, properly balanced dietary EFA-rich oils.

Juvenile delinquents unresponsive to counseling, given omega-3 rich oils, became counselable. EFAs could play important roles in rehabilitation of criminals. If our foods don't satisfy the brain's biological requirements, then it cannot fire on all cylinders and behavior cannot be right.

Mental illness
EFAs lift depression and elevate mood. Many depressed people would benefit from improved intake and balance of EFAs. Schizophrenics hallucinate less on improved EFA intake. EFAs are key nutrients for treating mental conditions.

Skin, hair and nails
EFAs form a barrier in our skin against loss of moisture, protect us from dehydration and prevent many problems involving histamines, prostaglandine, inflammation, constipation and related toxic conditions. Hair and nails grow better. EFAs produce soft, smooth, velvety skin.

The best way to oil your skin is from within, using the right amounts of properly balanced, properly made EFA-rich products. Adults usually require about 2 tablespoons per day, but the exact amount for best results is individually determined. People also tan better and burn less. They get relief from eczema, acne, psoriasis and other skin conditions. EFA-rich oils used externally turn rancid on our skin and we then smell like paint.

Dry skin indicates a need for EFAs. In winter you need more than in summer. When the weather turns in fall, dry skin is our indicator to take more EFAs. My skin requires almost one tablespoon more each winter day than it does in summer. We can live with dry skin, but not with a dry liver or brain. Inner organs get priority on the EFAs brought into your body. After your inner organs have their EFAs, your skin gets oiled.

In Vietnam war vets, the body burden of oil-soluble Agent Orange was reduced by sweating in saunas and the decrease was monitored. Oils lost in sweat carry these toxins and must be replaced to prevent dry skin. If you take EFAs too close to bedtime, you may have too much energy to sleep (many people would like that problem), so take EFA-rich oils before 8:00 PM. Occasionally, someone has an allergic skin response to an EFA-rich oil; take it with digestive enzymes. If that does not work, find another source of EFAs. Allergy to oil is rare, even in allergy-prone individuals. Proteins trigger allergy reactions, but oils are protein-free. In fact, good oils relieve allergies.

Digestive system
EFAs help prevent leaky gut food allergies, reduce cravings and addictions to foods, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Inner organs, liver, kidneys, adrenals, pancreas, require EFAs to function, as do our thyroid and other glands.

Sperm formation requires EFAs. EFAs help prevent pre-menstrual syndrome.

Cholesterol transport requires EFAs. Omega-3 EFAs lower high-triglycerides by up to 65%, better than drugs, without side effects, except that you feel better. Remarkable, a fat that lowers blood fats! Properly balanced EFAs produce prostaglandin hormones that make platelets less sticky, decrease the chance of a clot forming in an artery to your heart or brain, protecting you from heart attacks and strokes; help lower high blood pressure; help your kidneys remove excess water and decrease inflammation.

EFAs protect genetic material, DNA, from damage. Our immune cells use EFAs to make oxygen bullets [hydrogen peroxide] to kill infectious foreign invaders. EFAs help treat fungus infections like athlete's foot and yeast overgrowth, candidiasis. EFAs and their derivatives inhibit tumor growth. We require EFAs to transport and metabolize minerals and protein.

Budwig's High Energy Anti-Cancer Recipe

As early as 1842, scientists have known there is a definite connection between good health and supplementing the diet daily with an oil and protein combination. Although in those days the reasons behind the benefits were not understood, with today's technology modern scientists have been able to accurately pinpoint the workings of the oil-protein combination on the human system.

Researchers obtained results from their experiments which consistently proved that oil and protein belong together in nutrition, and work together in the body. Sensitivity to toxins increases if oil and protein are not given together and in the right proportions.

In the early 1900s, four scientists undertook the study of the relationship between oil-protein combinations and human health in separate research. Thunberg knew the importance of the sulphur-rich proteins, and knew that these proteins work in combination with a functional partner in biological systems. Although he searched for this ideal partner, he was unable to isolate it due to the fact that the methods needed to accomplish his work had not yet been invented.

Meyerhoff discovered that the fatty acid linoleic, and sulphur-rich proteins work perfectly together to help fatigued muscles recover from exercise and exertion rapidly. Unfortunately, in those days linoleic acid was not known to be essential, and he did not recognize the far-reaching significance of his finding. Szent-Gyorgyi discovered that sulphur-rich proteins when paired with linoleic acid, take up oxygen., But he, too lacked the biochemical techniques to prove the identity of the components.

Warburg showed that a fatty substance was required to restart oxidation when it was low, as is the case in cancer and diabetes. He tested a number of different fatty acids, but was disappointed when the expected results did not occur. Although he was familiar with linoleic acid, it didn't occur to him to try it.

All four of these researchers were Nobel Prize winning scientists who, stumped by the insurmountable technical difficulties, missed the solution they were so close to. Each turned his attention to other scientific questions of his time, and the almost solved problem was shelved and forgotten for years.

Puzzle Finally Solved

Dr. Johanna Budwig of West Germany entered the picture in the mid-1950s. She is a meticulous woman of genius, with a broad perspective which includes physics, chemistry, bio-chemistry, pharmacology and medicine. She recognized the loggerhead in research that had halted previous scientists. The breakthrough techniques she developed are so sensitive that the fatty substances from a single drop of blood can be accurately separated and the substances in it identified. Her work allowed the earlier scientists' leads to be followed and expanded upon. Pieces of the unsolved puzzle began to fall into place.

Using her new techniques, Dr Budwig began working with human patients, supplementing their diet with an oil-protein combination. She chose flaxseed oil because of its rich concentration of essential fatty acids, and skim milk for the sulphurated protein source. Later, she substituted low-fat cottage cheese in place of the skim milk because of the higher incidence of sulphurated proteins and because the consistency is more palatable.

Dr. Budwig found that neither the essential fatty acids nor the sulphurated proteins do the job alone. Only when consumed in combination with one another at the right ratios does the patient register benefits. This is due to the fact that the electron-rich essential oils need to bind to protein before the body can properly assimilate them.

Based on what she knew about oil and protein working together, Dr. Budwig fed cancer patients flaxseed oil stirred into low-fat cottage cheese (quark-a German dairy food) and monitored the changes which occurred in these patients. She found that the yellowish-green substance in their blood was replaced with healthy red pigment, hemoglobin. The phosphatides returned and the lipoproteins reappeared. She also found that tumors receded and disappeared, anemia was alleviated, vital energy increased and vitality returned.

The patient recuperated. It took about three months for these changes. During this time, the symptoms of cancer, diabetes, or liver disease also disappeared. She found that when high quality electron-rich fats (flaxseed) are combined with proteins, the electrons (pure energy) of the fats are protected until needed in the metabolism. Then the energy is immediately available as nature intended.” END
